Where did you grow up?
I grew up in North Dakota, dreaming of Palm trees.
What is your design philosophy?
Form + Function
Design should be both aesthetically pleasing and functional. If these are integrated seamlessly what you really notice is how the space makes you feel.
How did you get your start in design?
I knew I wanted to pursue a career that allowed me to be creative. I also knew that I could not spend another winter in -20 degree weather! I packed up a u-haul in my early 20’s to attend design school in Tempe, AZ. Now, nearly 20 years later I couldn’t imagine myself doing anything else.
How do you spend your time when not working?
Lately, we cannot get enough of the beach. My kiddos are young and it’s the perfect go to spot for us.
Favorite quote, book or movie?
“Creativity takes courage” –Henri Matisse
It does take a lot of boldness to freely express your ideas and put them out there for the world to see. I think it’s important to push boundaries, expand your horizons and come up with fresh ideas.
