Yoko Kato

BFA Interior Design, Kent State University, Cum Laude

"I am so anxious for every meeting with Yoko as she continues to delight with her thoughtful refinement and eye for beautiful materials!"

— Becky | Los Altos Hills, CA

Yoko has worked in the Interior Design field for over 15 years at various design firms. After graduating from college, she went to work for a small architectural firm specializing in Public Facility design working closely with architects resolving space and planning issues. From there, she went on to practice commercial workplace design for high profile clients at a fast-growing architectural firm in Cleveland, where many of the corporate projects she worked on became award-winners. Lastly, after moving to California, she went to work for the world renowned design firm, Gensler, working on large high-end commercial spaces throughout Silicon Valley.

Yoko’s ability to transition from beautifully hand-drawn sketches to computerized 3D sketchup drawings, make her a great addition to the SDS team. Her ability to see three dimensionally leads clients to beautiful, yet practical solutions that unify the architectural components in a seamless architecture-to-interiors approach. Her soft demeanor makes her a pleasure to work, but it’s her ability to create beautifully crafted and well thought details, that make Yoko an integral part of the team.

Yoko was born and raised in Japan, then moved to Ohio with her family when she was just in high school. She met her husband, a Graphic Designer, while attending Kent State University. She resides in the South Bay with her family and “high-maintenance” cat, Vanilla. Her active young daughter is lucky enough to be tri-lingual, learning both Cantonese and Japanese from her talented parents. When not in the office, Yoko can be seen at the park on playdates, cooking specialty dinners, or traveling to Japan to visit family.
